CJeS Entertainment asserts that LOEN Entertainment is committing unjust tyranny and released a letter of plea.
On July 9th, CJeS Entertainment argues through a press release: “With
just six days left until the release of XIA (Junsu)’s second full
album, we received a unilateral notice from the distributor, LOEN
Entertainment, on the afternoon of July 8th.”
CJeS Entertainment states, “Following the decision of (LOEN’s)
executive team, the verbal contract that has been in the making for two
months has been rendered obsolete.”
LOEN Entertainment states, “We
will conduct XIA (Junsu)’s online and offline distribution but we will
not do any promotional marketing outside of the distribution.”
LOEN continues in their notice, “This
was the decision of our internal executive team so we wish for your
understanding. As for the XIA showcase for MelOn customers, the live
stream will not be available through LOENTV and MelOn.”
On the actions of LOEN, CJeS comments, “We are unable to proceed with
other contracts with favorable terms. They have cornered us and used
their power unjustly on us.”
CJeS continued, “We can clearly say that we have constantly been
faced with invisible external pressures directed at JYJ and will not
sign any agreement even with the tyranny of the power distributor.
CJES revealed their stance, “The aforementioned has maliciously used
their advantageous position as a distribution business and unilaterally
annulled a business to business consultation. We will file a civil
complaint against LOEN with the Fair Trade Commission and
Anti-Corruption & Civil Rights Commission. We will do everything in
our power to seek justice.”
CJES also emphasized, “If LOEN does not reaffirm the promise of
conducting a live stream of the showcase on MelOnTV by today, then
showcase will not be open to MelOn customers but will be managed by
CJeS. We plan to admit people by order of arrival and will broadcast a
live stream through the official CJeS channel. We wish to extend our
apologies to the fans for this regrettable news, and promise to do our
best to facilitate a smooth showcase and distribution.”
Below is CJeS Entertainment’s official announcement
Hello.
This is CJeS Entertainment.
For the release of XIA (Junsu)’s 2nd
album on the 15th, we, CJeS Entertainment (hereafter CJeS) have received
a sudden unilateral and unfair decision by the distribution company
LOEN Entertainment (hereafter LOEN) regarding the online and offline
distribution of XIA’s album. We would like to tell the following facts
to the fans and the public about this unlawful situation.
Since May, the company has been in
business consultation with LOEN regarding the release of XIA’s album and
both parties have verbally agreed on the distribution agreement.
We then met with officials more than 5
times and have exchanged at least 50 mails about the distribution of
XIA’s 2nd album. In addition, 15 days ahead of the album release, CJeS
and LOEN had finally decided to proceed with the final decision for the
following promotional and marketing strategies (1. MelOn live TV event
of the showcase for MelOn customers. 2. MelOn special video part 3.
Overall PR marketing for each of the five major online music
distribution sites)
However, yesterday evening, LOEN’s side
gave a notice of unilateral decision overturning the entire contents of
what we have agreed so far. LOEN said, “we will proceed with the online
and offline distribution for XIA, but decided to fully nullify other
promotion and marketing activities.”, it was stated. Also, LOEN said,
“This is an internal executive decision, please understand the
situation. In case of the Melon live TV event of the showcase, it is no
longer possible.”
However, the showcase began at the
suggestion of LOEN. LOEN has stated both on emails and face to face
meetings last June that, “CJeS Entertainment and LOEN will do the
showcase on MelOn since web and mobile exposure can reap huge publicity
for the album.” The showcase was explained, we accepted the reason,, and
the final decision to proceed with the showcase c/o of LOEN instead of a
major internet portal site. On July 3rd, before the final press release
about the showcase was distributed to the media, we shared with LOEN
the contents of the data, and at that time, LOEN said, “It would be good
if you mention about LOEN TV and MelOn TV.” We accepted this and
replied, then distributed the press release to the media. However, LOEN
officials decided that the TV event of the showcase in MelOn is not
possible, 6 days before the showcase which is an obvious act of tyranny.
Also, LOEN’s statement that they will
nullify all promotional marketing strategies while distributing the
album online and offline, which comes a mere six days before the release
date, is like saying that they will gain the profits from XIA (Junsu)’s
fans but will not take on the responsibilities of the distributor of
XIA (Junsu)’s second solo album.
For the last 2 months, LOEN have done
business for album distribution of XIA (Junsu) with the 2nd track of XIA
(Junsu) album, 11 am, producing and filming the special clip as well as
the overseas distribution on iTunes was also provided. This marketing
was not in the agreement, but it can be seen looking at the
consultations between both sides (contracts in progress), as both sides
exchanged a lot of emails and letters and phone communication, which can
be regarded as evidence.
However, after a pre-release on July
2nd, the showcase that was agreed upon through emails and meetings saw
its banner disappearing without a trace from (MelOn’s) web and mobile
main pages. Even though XIA (Junsu)’s music video teaser was revealed on
July 8th, there was still no trace of the banner. For artists who are
using LOEN’s distribution services at the same time as Junsu, We can
easily find banners of those artists on MelOn’s web and mobile pages.
However, all of XIA (Junsu)’s contents disappeared from MelOn’s main
pages since July 4th.
Receiving the notice from LOEN last
night, CJeS’ planning team felt that the contents of LOEN’s promotional
contents were being destroyed. Additionally, giving us this notice with
just six days left until the release is like cornered us and using their
power unjustly on us. We strongly opposed their decision through an
official document, but LOEN’s reply was that nothing will be changed.
The aforementioned has maliciously used
their advantageous position as a distribution business and unilaterally
annulled a business to business consultation. We will file a civil
complaint against LOEN with the Fair Trade Commission and
Anti-Corruption & Civil Rights Commission. We will do everything in
our power to seek justice.”

Latest update [7pm KST]: The
main issue is both parties supposedly agree that Junsu’s showcase will
be aired via MelOn TV because Junsu is having a hard time appearing on
broadcasts. If LOEN says that they don’t have an agreement, then why
would LOEN proceed with getting pre-orders and selling Junsu’s album.
C-Jes asked LOEN to reply by tonight July 9. If no reply was received,
they will invite fans to the showcase and those who applied via melon
will not be allowed to attend the showcase. (via @rubypurple_fan)
